Meet the Candidates: Marcella Al-Hassan
My name is Marcella Al-Hassan, and I am honored to be nominated as a candidate for
Director of Sisters. I have been a part of this community since 2004 and reverted to Islam in 2009. I gained experience in administrative duties while volunteering at Salam Academy for four years. I have worked as a Certified Nurse Assistant and Residential Instructor for five years at Res-Care NM before moving on to work as a Phlebotomist at S.E.D Laboratories. By Allah's (swt) grace, I have been privileged to be involved in mediating between my sisters here at the Mosque a number of times and Alhamdulillah it went great. I have also been in the classes that was held in our community , such as washing the dead, attending our Iman classes, and learning how to read Arabic. I helped coordinate Ramdan Iftar in the past two years. I am known for my willingness to provide assist when it is needed and I have the ability to take initiative to prevent and solve problems in any situation. As my sisters know I am very fair when dealing with people and willing to ask for suggestion and assistance when needed.
I If elected, I would work on uniting my sisters and ensuring that they don't only have a strong voice in the community, but also their ideas would be heard and prompt action will be taken. I will have discussion with my fellow sisters to set activities that would be helpful to us, our children, and the community around us.
If elected into this position I will do the job to the best of my ability. Insha- Allah, not just for me, but for the whole community.
